Mark Halsey began his management consulting career in 1979. Over several succeeding years, he rose to Director with two separate firms, supervising as many as twenty other consultants and later becoming independent. Mr. Halsey focuses on helping organizations reach new levels of operational excellence and on satisfying new, as-yet-unmet, needs in his clients’ arenas of activity. He uses combinations of strategic planning tools, feasibility models and implementation of various performance management systems, along with seminars and organizational development techniques. Committed to forming and utilizing strong partnerships, Mr. Halsey believes in involving as wide an array of stakeholders in organizations’ change and success strategies as is prudent. His nonprofit clients have predominately been in health and human services, while he has for-profit experience in heavy industry, food processing and retail.
Mr. Halsey is the founding director of the first graduate program in Nonprofit Management in the metropolitan Philadelphia area, and established a site operation in Washington, D.C. He has taught strategic planning and human resources management courses at the graduate and undergraduate level for over 20 years, and has consulted or conducted seminars in China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, South Africa, Guatemala and Bolivia, among almost a dozen countries in total. Working with colleges and universities, predominately with non-traditional students, he has broad experience in distance education curriculum and delivery. He has served on an assortment of nonprofit and for-profit boards of directors, including terms as board President, in the fields of developmental disability, arts and culture, nursing, and scientific testing.
Mr. Halsey earned an MBA from the University of Georgia, and did extensive graduate coursework in Public Policy (focusing particularly on Heath Policy) at the University of Maryland; he earned a BBA in management and public administration from James Madison University in Virginia. He provides the skills, knowledge and confidence necessary to assist his clients in designing and implementing new strategies, in working collaboratively with their stakeholders, and in helping them to see opportunities and focus on implementing what is required to capture such opportunities without losing sight of the big picture.
